Summary & Key Duties
The HR Lead performs HR-related duties professionally and works closely with the Company Officers and leadership team. This position is responsible for the following: payroll, benefits administration, employee relations, training, performance management, onboarding, policy implementation, recruitment/employment, affirmative action, and employment law compliance, as well as special projects, as needed. This position is an integral part of the leadership team.
- Develops, implements, updates, and maintains healthy relationships between employees, leaders, and officers of the company
- Serves as a coach and mentor for other positions in the company
- Develops, recommends, and implements personnel policies and procedures
- Implements performance review program (quarterly/yearly)
- Handles all aspects of payroll
- Manages all benefits programs for employees (401K, Medical Insurance, Worker’s Compensation, Voluntary insurance, Holiday, PTO/Vacation)
- Assist with 401(K) administration, working with broker and administrator
- Prepares and maintains employee handbook on policies and procedures
- Works with Core Leadership Team to establish performance pay plan guidelines and a compensation structure
- Plans, organizes, and manages all HR activities
- Ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws
- Oversees recruitment efforts; writes and places job postings; works with management to screen and interview candidates; conducts reference and background checks, extends job offers; conducts new-employee orientations; and conducts exit interviews
- Resolves employee relation issues, mediates employee concerns, and escalates when appropriate
- Prioritizes conflicting needs and follows through on projects to meet deadlines
- Sets personal goals and metrics yearly to make the company as successful as possible
- Assists with yearly property, vehicle, and worker’s compensation insurance renewal
- Manages workers’ compensation and general liability insurance
- Maintains electronic personnel files
- Works with supervisors to maintain up-to-date job descriptions
- Develops and maintains various employee engagement, recognition, morale and reward programs
- Keeps OSHA policies updated, as well as training for employees
- Maintains Human Resource Manual
- Travels to other company locations, as needed
Minimum Qualifications
- Understanding of the importance of maintaining and nurturing company culture
- Strong leadership abilities and attention to detail
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills and the ability to effectively present information to top management and staff
- An energetic, forward-thinking, and creative individual with high ethical standards with an appropriate professional image
- High level of motivation and eagerness to learn in a self-starter environment
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- The ability to prioritize and multitask is crucial
- Works diligently to improve procedures for efficiency
